Murder and robbery suspect arrested

AHMEDABAD: Hamid Khan, a man wanted for the murder of Pushpa Nathani, 45, was nabbed by the crime branch on Monday. He is the fifth person to be arrested by the crime branch in connection to this case.
Nathani was strangled to death at her residence at Ratnakalash Complex in Chandkheda. Her daughter and son-in-law living across the lobby from her apartment chanced upon her body.Nathani's body was dragged to the bathroom before the assailants left by jumping from a window. As Nathani's relatives reported gold and silver jewellery along with other valuables worth Rs 1.62 lakh missing, police labelled robbery the prime motive.
Crime branch officials first arrested Kartik Vandara, a resident of Raipur, Khadia and a native of Amreli. Vandara's interrogation led to the arrest of Shyamsingh Jaat, 24, Shivshankar Verma, 35, and Amit Goswami, 23, all residents of Buland Shaher in Uttar Pradesh. A team led by inspector BP Rojiya nabbed them from near Sarangpur circle. A pistol and four cartridges were seized from them.
Rojiya also went to Buland Shaher and caught Khan from his hideout there. Khan has told crime branch officials that his accomplice Jaat had helped him kill the woman. "He had been staying in the city from the last one and half years. Khan used to do metal fabrication work and during daytime he used to recce houses and later struck there at night to steal valuables. Khan has confessed to thefts in Bopal and Fatehwadi," said a crime branch official.
